Mastergear Stem Extensions

Mastergear offer stem extensions sets to go with their worm gearboxes built to specification SLO72 (for buried service, wet, IP68). The extensions are made of steel and depending on the length required, are mounted to the gearbox at our works.

Stem extensions are watertight and consists of the following main parts:

Outer protection tube made from carbon steel without mounting flange welded on (normally F10) for mounting onto gearbox,
Inner extension bar of carbon steel with coupling welded on to accept the input shaft of the gearbox,
Lip seals (oil seal) to seal off the extension bar and protection tube,
Conical operating square head, fitted on extension bar (pinned).

Sets for buried service are available in one piece up to a fixed length of approx. 3,50 m. Longer tubes are normally supplied split in several parts with connecting flanges for assembly on site.

The wall thickness of the components of the components depends on the applicable torque and the length on the system.

The unit is supplied with a primer paint or a high-quality powder coating. Powder coating in not available for most of the longer units.

A further option to the standard SVE_GU version is the one with position indicator SVE_GURW + RZW1-3. this has an open/closed positional indicator above ground.

Position Indicator Gear.

Mastergear Position indicator gears are used in combination with valves and gears, which are installed under the roof or where a direct position control is not possible. The Position-Indicator- Gear Serie Pl are available in 5 sizes with a visual indication range from 50 up to 505 revolutions. These gears are suitable for submerged applications down to 25m. The position indicator are easy to adjut. The main bore of the gear is available in 20 or 30mm through bore.
